Goa to Host Prestigious WSRO Robotics Competition

Goa to Host Prestigious WSRO Robotics Competition for the First Time

WSRO is an annual competition and is one of Asia’s premier robotics and STEM festivals. The competition happens at the regional level in multiple states followed by National level events in Ahmedabad. The competition has multiple challenges and allows students with multiple interests to participate in events of their choice. The winners of each regional event get to participate in WSRO Nationals at Ahmedabad which later progresses into WSRO International.

The regional-level WSRO is being organised in Goa for the first time and is a wonderful opportunity for Goan students to participate in STEM and robotics.

The various competitions being organised in Goa are

Year of Robotics in Goa

The year 2024 has been a year of robotics for Goa, with various STEM and robotics-related events taking place. In January 2024, Goa hosted The Goa International Robotics Festival 2024, where various teams from Goa participated along with other national and international teams in the “FIRST Tech Challenge” and “FLL Inspired Showtime” challenges. Participating teams included students from primary to higher secondary standards.

This was followed by the Codeavour 5.0 International regional level event in Goa in March 2024. This resulted in 23 teams with students from primary to 9th standard getting selected for the National level event. Two of the teams from Goa who participated in the Codeavour 5.0 regional event ultimately ended up winning the global championship at the international event in Dubai on 5th May 2024.

The WSRO 2024 Goa event aims to provide an additional platform for students to participate in STEM and robotics-related challenges. In four out of five competitions in this event, students can participate with any kit or coding platform they are aware of and comfortable with. However, for students who are new to robotics, physical training sessions have been organised that will help them build their own robots.
